Backpack

Coldpack’s thermal insulating Backpack was developed to transport vaccines to isolated areas. It offers an alternative to existing solutions.

In zones with difficult access, vaccines are generally transported using rigid cool boxes by personnel from the World Health Organisation, UNICEF or other humanitarian organisations.

The cool box’s rigidity is impractical for transporting vaccines for the 12h to 36h of the final leg to the outreach location. Many vials arrive at the destination frozen and therefore cannot be used. These cool boxes are expensive to buy and expensive to use. If they are not abandoned on site polluting the natural environment, their significant empty weight must be transported on the return journey.

Following a request from the WHO (World Health Organisation), Coldpack developed a flexible backpack with an Airliner lining for the temperature-controlled transportation of vaccines (according to WHO protocols) to remote locations. It can guarantee temperatures between 2°C and 20°C for up to 48h.
